Updated Wreath For Outside

I updated the wreath on the front of the house this weekend. I love hydrangeas and Michael's had their bushes on sale. The green ones look a little yellow in these photos but they are green.

New Canvases

July 2012

I have been catching up on the Donna Downey Canvas Create Class http://www.donnadowney.com/shop I am taking on-line. Really been fun! I am not a painter so it has been out of my box to paint on canvases. We have finger painted, done mixed media, watercolored and did some great background techniques under our paintings. I have learned a lot!

This is a mixed media canvas I did using modeling paste with a wood grain stencil. Really cool.

June 2012

This canvas has tissue tape all over the background then absorbent ground was painted on top. Then I drew in the poppies and watercolored them. I really LOVE this one!




May 2012

This canvas was finger painted. The whole thing! Using Golden fluid acrylics on a black canvas. I very seldom deviate from Donna's projects. I love the colors she puts together to use (always colbalt teal in there) and just makes the paintings easy for me. Well I must say some are harder than others but she really knows what she is doing when it comes to painting. I love her boldness and her not afraid to try new things. If you don't like it, it can always be painted over!

Holiday Card Class at Stamp Asylum

I will be teaching my annual Holiday Card Class at Stamp Asylum on Saturday, October 6th from 3:00pm - 5:30pm. Cost for the class is $55.00 and everything is included. You do not need to even bring your tool kit. I provide all that stuff too! This is just one of the six cards you will make in the class. This year I am including Halloween cards. So you will make two Halloween, two Thanksgiving/Fall cards and two Christmas ones. Come have some fun that Saturday afternoon. Call the store to sign up at 972 596-1224.

September Mouse Card

Here is the card for September.  Lots of leaves blowing around. Of course here in Texas it's still HOT as you know what! Don't see Fall coming anytime soon. LOL

Clay Crowns

 Last weekend I had one of my art group meetings. This is what we created. Two of the members tag teamed to teach us, Donna J. & Jeanne showed us clay can be fun!

 This one I copied the decorating of one that Jeanne had done. I loved the colors of the alcohol inks used and the little chip board circle frame is from Maya Road. I added stickles to it and a bird photo behind the frame. Filled the frame in with glossy accents.

 You probably can not tell but I covered some of the dots with triple thick glossy sealer to give them some more dimension. I also included some stickles on some of the smaller dots.

 This one has a transfer on it of children. Did not know you could transfer toner/laser copies with water but you can. Very easy too! I added some detail to the inside of this crown on the peaks.

 This one is very brightly colored with the alcohol inks. Love the star brads Jeanne told me about at Hobby Lobby! Thanks Jeanne!!

 I added stickles to the dots on this one. It's colored with Red Pepper alcohol ink.

Jeanne and Donna had some crowns that they had sewn on. Cool idea! I watched Jeanne drill the holes in this crown for me so I could add the wire X's. Love this look!

It was great to play with a medium that I don't use very often. Learned several things about the medium plus I loved the bright colors you get with the alcohol inks.

August House Mouse Card

Amanda doesn't seem to be having to much trouble caring this apple back to school. It's that time again, the kids are buying their school supplies and getting new clothes for their trips back to school.

Hard to believe my son is 19 and in college. Time passes way to fast!
