My Son's Birthday

My young man is 17 today! It seems like yesterday he was just a little one. They grow so fast! We celebrated by going to eat dinner with two of his friends at a local Mexican restaurant. His Father and I gave him a trip to see his friend that lives in Colorado. So he will be going in August for his first commercial plane ride. Last year on his birthday we took him on his first plane ride ever, but it was a private plane. I told him this plane ride will be different than the last one. Probably not feel like he is flying. The other flight was a little bumpy. So to say the least he is excited about going next month.

Art, Jewelry & Pillows

I made this bird cage pillow for a friend's birthday gift last night. Wrapping it up today but wanted to post a photo of it first. The crown one I made a few weeks ago for myself. They both are made from a linen type material. I just bought a pillow form to insert inside the casing I sewed. Believe me I am NOT a seamstress so this had to be easy if I did it. The images are iron-ons. Don't remember where I got the crown one but the bird one came from Olive Rue on Etsy.

This cute little birdie came in a kit from http://www.junkart.com/ . Everything came in the kit from the fabric to the spool and bird. Even the banner. It says SPRING on it but it's hard to see in the photo. My wonderful friend Mary bought the kit for me at Paper Cowgirl http://papercowgirl.blogspot.com/ a few weekends ago. It was fun to put together.

These are some new bird pendants I came up with to sell at Stamp Asylum http://www.stampasylum.blogspot.com . I still need to add them to my Etsy store.

Burlap Curtain

I added a burlap curtain between my den and kitchen. Love this bird cage image I bought from Olive Rue on Etsy http://www.etsy.com/shop/OliveRue?ga_search_query=oliverue&ga_search_type=seller_usernames She has some great images for iron-ons. Check out her shop.

Tie back for curtain.

Wonderful Wooden Houses

I bought these great wooden houses yesterday at The Red Shed http://redshedonline.com/ in Grapevine. My friend Mary and I headed out early to get the best deals. I ended up buying art that my friend Jeannie made. This one sits on a table and the others I mounted to a wall in my house.

Later we went to the grand opening of Patina Green http://patinagreen.typepad.com/ in McKinney. If your in the area you have to stop in at this store! It was so beautiful. It's in the downtown area of McKinney on the square. Nice furnishings and organic fruit and supplies. We found some old papers with great writing to use for collage and wonderful fresh flowers. Unusual ones like artichoke, kale and wax flower. You can also eat lunch there. The owner's husband is the chef. Well worth the trip!

Ribbon Holder for Studio

I bought this cool ribbon holder from one of my friends that has a booth at The Dove's Nest http://thedovesnestrestaurant.com/ in Waxahachie. Really neat store and her booth has products by Kelly Rae Roberts too. She also has jewelry she makes from watch parts. There is also a great scrapbook store there called The Crafty Scrapper http://www.thecraftyscrapper.com/. Make a trip to Waxahachie and see the stores for yourself. It's worth the drive.

House Mouse Card For August Stamp of the Month

This is my newest card for the House Mouse people. I use Copic Markers to color the mouse and apple. I think it came out pretty cute!
